Who am I?

Hi, I’m Bryan, an Irish-born, Toronto-living, writer stitched together with anxiety, depression and a deep love of fantasy. I have a PhD in chemistry, but stories and literature have always been my first language. I grew up wrapped in folklore and fantasy, raised on shows like Charmed and Buffy, with a book always cracked open beside a mug of tea.

When I’m not writing, I’m knitting something warm, kneading dough, or getting lost in the old stories. My debut novel, Gods Between Us And All Harm, blends ancient Irish myth with dark fantasy, grief, survival, and queerness. It’s my love letter to the strange and the sacred, to anxious boys and the weight they carry, to ruined lands and the people who refuse to leave them behind. It is a story told on the back of coloniser and colonised, queerness and bigotry, Irish-ness and identity.

I am based in Toronto, living with my cat Piper (the real star of the show), surrounded by my found-family and feeling the every present support of my family back home.
